About

LessonSpark.com is an easy-to-use online hub for music teachers and their students to meet-up. You can meet-up for the first time through the music teacher locator, you can meet up for music lessons through the student manager, and you can stay in contact between lessons with the practice tools and messaging.

The idea behind LessonSpark.com is to solve a few fundamental problems that WERE a fact of life with music lessons, until now. Here are the problems we set out to solve:

• Music Student Recruitment/Music Teacher Locator

Sure, there are other locator services out there, but they either don’t work or are expensive (or worse yet, keep part of every lesson fee increasing the cost!). And if they do match you up, they don’t do much to foster the student/teacher relationship. How could we unite music students with music teachers and help keep them engaged?

• Lesson Satisfaction

We’ve all had lessons where a student left us able to perform what they were assigned, but at some point during their week of practice, something goes terribly wrong. They forget, or get confused, so they either practice wrong or just don’t practice at all out of frustration. How could we see before the lesson and intervene or be better prepared? Or, what if we could give encouragement to keep up the good work between lessons?

• Progress Tracking

How do you make sure students have all the information they need when they leave? Notebooks get lost or forgotten, and time to update them is limited. What if you need to find practice notes from a former teacher? How could we store practice notes in a way that students would know exactly what is expected, and in a way that is easy to follow from week to week and searchable?

The answer is the powerful music lesson hub called LessonSpark.com.

Teacher profiles have a sleek one page design. It’s easy to maintain and easy for students to follow. Recruiting tools allow local students to find you easily, plus, if you offer lessons online there is a non-geographical search as well. Lesson and practice tools are easy to access and navigate. It’s simple enough to be useful to young children, but robust enough to be useful for even advanced or professional level students.

Student profiles are unique to the student. You can "link" your profile to a teacher or teachers, but if you change teachers you won't lose everything. Our teachers are independent or part of small organizations. By choosing a teacher from LessonSpark.com, you are supporting small businesses and independent musicians. Because our teachers work for themselves, you can expect a high level of commitment and a low level of turn-over. You'll be able to work with your teacher to tailor your lessons to your needs.

LessonSpark.com was designed with safety in mind. To be compliant with COPPA (Child Online Privacy and Protection Act) LessonSpark.com has followed the guidelines provided by the FTC. For more information about the responsibilities and requirements we are bound to, please go to www.ftc.gov/coppa. Student profiles are private and cannot be searched. Only those teachers you grant access to can view your student profile.

That’s LessonSpark.com in a nutshell! In 2012, we rolled out major changes to the site in response to user feedback, and more upgrades are planned. You have our attention! LessonSpark.com was designed by a music teacher, for music teachers and students, so let us know what we can do to make this the best tool for you!
